Racism, Presidents and American Freedom

Join Queens Libertarians (in its topical event for LPQC) on July 13 at noon, to hear retired professor of American History Philip Schoenberg on the topic of “The Racism of the American Presidents toward Black Americans, from the Founding Fathers to the Present Day.” Discussion will be held at our Woodside location at Donovan’s Pub on 57-24 Roosevelt Ave, in the family room area. This address will follow the business session, covering Queens LP planning and subcommittee updates.

Schoenberg goes over the curious, or even scandalous history of actual or claimed racism on the part of American political leaders, by actions or verbal expressions that impacted the liberty of black Americans. He reviews how such views and policies influenced the persistence of chattel slavery, into segregation and the civil rights movement era, and its current implications. Were past Presidents sincere in these beliefs? Or were they cowed by political circumstances of the time into holding them? These and other questions will be addressed.  Details and Directions
